Incidental finding of mild COVID-19 pneumonia with multiple thromboembolic disease: A case report.

Corona virus disease is thought to be of zoonotic origin which has been named SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and was first introduced in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Although the corona virus-associated inflammatory state can additionally lead to significant thromboembolic complications despite prophylaxis, previous studies have reported the clinical manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 are varied, ranging from asymptomatic to severe. Here, we reported a 69-year-old female infected with COVID-19 pneumonia, presenting with shortness of breath, chest pain, and left leg swelling for 1 week. Although the patients who had no history of chronic disease, but she was diagnosed with pulmonary thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) from mild case of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Qigong Training Positively Impacts Both Posture and Mood in Breast Cancer Survivors With Persistent Post-surgical Pain: Support for an Embodied Cognition Paradigm.

Theories of embodied cognition hypothesize interdependencies between psychological well-being and physical posture. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of objectively measuring posture, and to explore the relationship between posture and affect and other patient centered outcomes in breast cancer survivors (BCS) with persistent postsurgical pain (PPSP) over a 12-week course of therapeutic Qigong mind-body training. Twenty-one BCS with PPSP attended group Qigong training. Clinical outcomes were pain, fatigue, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, stress and exercise self-efficacy. Posture outcomes were vertical spine and vertical head angles in the sagittal plane, measured with a 3D motion capture system in three conditions: eyes open (EO), eyes open relaxed (EOR) and eyes closed (EC). Assessments were made before and after the Qigong training. The association between categorical variables (angle and mood) was measured by Cramer's V. In the EO condition, most participants who improved in fatigue and anxiety scales also had better vertical head values. For the EOR condition, a moderate correlation was observed between changes in vertical head angle and changes in fatigue scale. In the EC condition, most of the participants who improved in measures of fatigue also improved vertical head angle. Additionally, pain severity decreased while vertical spine angle improved. These preliminary findings support that emotion and other patient centered outcomes should be considered within an embodied framework, and that Qigong may be a promising intervention for addressing biopsychosocially complex interventions such as PPSP in BCSs.

Cross-cultural adaptation, validity and reliability of the Persian version of Fremantle Knee Awareness Questionnaire.

& Objective: There is strong evidence regarding impaired knee self-perception in patients with chronic knee osteoarthritis (OA). Currently, the Fremantle Knee Awareness Questionnaire (FreKAQ) has been developed to evaluate knee self-perception. This study aimed to evaluate validity and reliability of the Persian version of FreKAQ in patients with chronic knee OA.

Post-cardiac Injury Syndrome Following Permanent Dual-Chamber Pacemaker Implantation.

Post-cardiac injury syndrome is a heterogeneous group of conditions that result from autoimmune-mediated inflammation of the pericardium, epicardium, and myocardium. Interventions such as pacemaker lead insertions, percutaneous coronary interventions, radiofrequency ablations, cardiac surgeries, and Swan-Ganz catheterizations can cause myocardial injury leading to post-traumatic pericarditis. This phenomenon can lead to chest pain, recurrent effusions, and fever along with possible complications of heart failure, arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities as well as cardiac tamponade. Herein, we present a case report of a 64-year-old female with a history of sick sinus syndrome managed with a dual-chamber pacemaker who presented with post-cardiac injury syndrome after three months of pacemaker implantation. She developed a recurrent syndrome of fever, chest discomfort, tachycardia with weakness, hemodynamic instability, hemorrhagic serositis, and cardiac tamponade. The mechanism of exudative inflammatory effusions initially remained inconclusive, as the workup for infectious and malignant processes was negative. However, post-cardiac injury syndrome akin to the Dressler syndrome related to screw-in dual-chamber pacemaker implantation remained a possibility. Her condition was acutely managed with a combination of colchicine and glucocorticoid therapy. She was placed on long-term aspirin and colchicine therapy to prevent any recurrences. This article illustrates a case of post-cardiac injury syndrome after dual-chamber pacemaker implantation, including details of evaluation, management, complications and monitoring of patient progress.

Hair-on-End Sign in a 9-Year-Old Girl Presenting with Acute Stroke in Sickle Cell Disease.

The hair-on-end (HOE) sign is a rare finding seen in the diploic space on skull radiographs, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with the appearance of long, thin vertical striations of calcified spicules perpendicular to the bone surface that looks like hair standing on end. It is classically seen in children/adolescents with hemolytic anemias, in particular, thalassemia major and sickle cell disease. Here, we present a 9-year-old Ugandan girl who presented with stroke in whom head CT demonstrated cerebral intraparenchymal hemorrhage and multiple infarcts on the left with HOE sign. Hb electrophoresis confirmed the diagnosis of sickle cell anemia.

Non-Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in COVID-19: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events, either due to aneurysmal rupture or spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), are not rare in COVID-19. Several mechanisms such as coagulopathy, cytokine storm, viral endotheliopathy, hypertension, and immune modulation might play a role in the pathogenesis of SAH in COVID-19. This study aimed to report the first case of spontaneous non-aneurysmal SAH associated with SARS-CoV-2 from India. We briefly discussed the possible pathogenetic mechanisms underlying this process and succinctly reviewed the relevant literature.

Adverse events induced by nivolumab and ipilimumab combination regimens.

No meta-analysis has assessed the pooled frequencies of adverse events (AEs) induced by concomitant nivolumab plus ipilimumab regimen for anticancer-medications-naïve malignancies. Furthermore, no meta-analysis has compared detailed safety profiles between four doses of nivolumab 3 mg/kg plus ipilimumab 1 mg/kg every 3 weeks (N3I1) and four doses of nivolumab 1 mg/kg plus ipilimumab 3 mg/kg every 3 weeks (N1I3). Objectives of this study was estimating AE frequencies, and comparison of AE frequencies between N3I1 and N1I3 regimens.
