Welcome to the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) web site (the “Site”). By accessing and using the Site, you agree to each of the terms set forth below, and to the IASP Privacy Policy incorporated into and made a part of these Terms. IASP Discussion Lists are subject to the Discussion List Guidelines in addition to and not in limitation of these Terms. IASP reserves the right to modify the Terms at any time, effective upon posting of the revised Terms to the Site. Your access or use of the Site following such posting constitutes your agreement to the revised Terms.

IASP, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF PAIN, WORLD CONGRESS ON PAIN, IASP PRESS, GLOBAL YEAR AGAINST PAIN, the IASP logo and other names of IASP or its programs, products and services are trademarks of IASP. You may not use the IASP trademarks without the express, written permission of IASP. Other product and company names which appear on the Site may be subject to trademark or other rights of third parties.

The content located on or accessed through the Site, including the graphics, images and layout of the Site, is the property of IASP and protected by United States and international copyright laws. IASP grants you a limited, non-exclusive license to access and use the Site and to download and print a single copy of the Site content solely for your personal, non-commercial use and provided that you do not delete or modify any copyright or other proprietary notice. Any other copying, use, distribution, transmission or modification of the Site’s content or any other property of IASP, whether in electronic, printed or other form, is prohibited without IASP’s prior written consent. You may link to the Site for non-commercial purposes only, provided that you agree to remove any such link upon demand by IASP, in its sole discretion.

Notwithstanding the above, IASP does not claim ownership of materials or content you post or upload or otherwise submit to IASP through the Site, including the Discussion Lists (“Visitor Content”). However, by posting, uploading or submitting Visitor Content you grant IASP and its affiliates and licensees the irrevocable, unlimited right to use such Visitor Content, including, without limitation, the right, but not the obligation to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat such Visitor Content and to publish your name in connection therewith, without payment of any kind. Copyright Infringement
If you believe any content on the Site infringes any person’s copyright interest, please provide the following information, in writing and signed by you, to the IASP Copyright Agent at the address listed below:

  • A description of the allegedly infringing content and of the copyrighted work which you believe is infringed, including an assertion that you either own such copyright interest, or are the authorized agent of the owner.
  • Your address, telephone number and e-mail address.

Use of the Site
You agree not to use the Site, including the Discussion Lists, in any manner so as to (a) adversely affect the Site’s resources or the availability of the Site to others; (b) violate any local, state, national or international law, including, without limitation, laws regarding the export of data from the United States or the country in which you reside or laws governing the privacy of healthcare information; or (c) delete or revise any content on the Site. You further agree not to use the Site to harass any other person or to collect or store personal information about other visitors to the Site.

Any personal information you post or submit to the Site may be collected and/or used by third parties. IASP is not responsible for the security of any personal information you post or submit to the Site. IASP reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as required under any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request.

Discussion List Guidelines
The IASP Discussion Lists are developed and maintained for the exclusive use of IASP members or others authorized by IASP to access and use the Discussion Lists. IASP may limit or restrict access or use of the Discussion Lists in IASP’s sole discretion. IASP Discussion Lists are moderated or unmoderated at the sole discretion of IASP. The Discussion Lists are intended to facilitate the exchange of information among IASP members. Use of the Discussion Lists is subject to these Guidelines. Violation of these Guidelines may result in a warning or cancellation of your subscription.

  1. All messages should be related to issues that concern the Discussion List topic. Commercial content is prohibited.
  2. Include a subject line describing the topic(s) of your message, and identify yourself in each message.
  3. The Discussion List software does not automatically detect viruses. It is up to you to install and use virus protection software on your computer.
  4. Please conduct yourself professionally. Do not use or distribute abusive, profane, obscene or derogatory language or content or submit any message that violates any proprietary or privacy right.

You warrant to IASP that messages you post to the Discussion Lists are not illegal, obscene, vulgar, threatening, defamatory, libelous, invasive of privacy or infringing of intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any person or entity or violative of any law, statute or regulation, including, without limitation, laws protecting the privacy of healthcare information.

You agree not to submit messages or other content that contain software viruses, corrupt data or which might otherwise disrupt the operation of the Site or servers or networks connected to the Site or the ability of visitors to access or use the Site, or which consist of commercial solicitations, or mass mailings or any form of “spam.” You further agree not to use a false e-mail address or to impersonate any person or otherwise mislead as to the origin of any message or information you submit or post.

IASP has the right, but not the obligation, to review, remove or edit messages or other content you submit, at IASP’s sole discretion. IASP has no responsibility and assumes no liability for messages or content posted by you or any other party, including but not limited to any errors or omissions, lost or intercepted data, or any loss or damage of any kind you may incur.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL IASP BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE TO ANY VISITOR OR ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY FOR ANY DIRECT, COMPENSATORY, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL (INCLUDING LOST PROFITS AND LOST BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES), SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES THAT RESULT FROM OR RELATE IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER TO (a) USE OF CONTENT CONTAINED IN OR TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE DISCUSSION LISTS OR RELIANCE ON SUCH CONTENT, OR (b) ERRORS, INACCURACIES, OMISSIONS, DEFECTS, UNTIMELINESS, SECURITY BREACHES, OR ANY OTHER FAILURES CONTAINED IN SUCH CONTENT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IASP HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain types of damages. Therefore, some or all of the exclusions above may not apply to you. You may have other rights which may vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

BECAUSE SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. Indemnification
You understand and agree that you are personally responsible for your access and use of the Site, including the Discussion Lists. You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless IASP and its officers, employees, affiliates and agents and any third-party information providers from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damages and costs (including, but not limited to, direct, incidental, consequential, exemplary and indirect damages), and reasonable attorneys fees, resulting from or arising out of your use, misuse, or inability to use the Site, the Discussion Lists or content, or any violation by you of these Terms. General
The Site is controlled and operated by IASP its headquarters in Washington D.C., United States of America. IASP makes no representation that any content on the Site is appropriate or available for use in other locations. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your access to and use of the Site complies with all applicable laws of your jurisdiction. IASP reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate your access to the Site and/or the Discussion Lists, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice. You agree that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between you and IASP as a result of these Terms or your access or use of the Site or Discussion Lists.

These Terms, and any dispute that may arise between you and IASP shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict of laws principles. The Terms, as they may be amended from time to time, set forth the entire understanding of you and IASP as to the subject matter hereof. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of and venue in the courts located in the District of Columbia, U.S.A. for all disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms and/or the Site. If any provision of the Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of the Terms shall remain in full force and effect, and all provisions shall be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law. No waiver or failure to assert any provision of the Terms shall be valid unless in writing and signed by an authorized representative of IASP. A printed version of these Terms and of any notice given in electronic form shall be admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings based upon or relating to these Terms to the same extent and subject to the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form.
