PRF is excited to announce a new featured content series – Investigating Virtual Reality for Pain Management: Past, Present, and Future.

Over the years, virtual reality and other immersive technologies (which render computer-generated simulations of three-dimensional images or environments that simulate real or physical interactions) have gained attention for their increasing effectiveness in pain management. At PRF, we’re keen to take a deeper look at this phenomenon – and thanks to a generous grant from the MAYDAY Fund, we plan to do just that!

Over the next three months, PRF – alongside its other weekly offerings – is producing a featured content series titled, “Investigating Virtual Reality for Pain Management: Past, Present, and Future.” Throughout the series, we’ll examine the genesis and acceleration of immersive technologies for pain management, discuss future directions for the field, and explore the role that virtual reality could play across all healthcare.

Be on the lookout for new entries in this series over the coming weeks, including its first webinar, “Virtual Reality in Chronic Pain Management: New Frontiers in Treatment,” produced by IASP’s Pain, Mind, and Movement Special Interest Group and scheduled for next Wednesday, 11 December, at 3:00pm Eastern U.S. Time.
