The aims of this review were to describe the rationale and the techniques of sedation in interventional radiology, and to compile the safety and efficacy results available so far in the literature. A systematic MEDLINE/PubMed literature search was performed. Preliminary results from several studies demonstrated the feasibility, the efficacy and the safety of using sedative techniques in interventional radiology. Beyond pharmacological sedation and clinical hypnosis, digital sedation could reduce the anxiety and pain associated with interventional radiology procedures.

Medicinal cannabinoids, including medicinal cannabis and pharmaceutical cannabinoids and their synthetic derivatives, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), have been suggested to have a therapeutic role in certain mental disorders. We analysed the available evidence to ascertain the effectiveness and safety of all types of medicinal cannabinoids in treating symptoms of various mental disorders.

A 49-year-old woman presented 5 months after a missed locked fracture-dislocation of the calcaneus. This was treated with a Taylor spatial frame for deformity correction before definitive open reduction internal fixation with subtalar fusion. She is now 4 and a half years postoperative with an active lifestyle and no pain.

Fractures, especially if articular and periarticular, are frequently associated to functional and clinical disabling outcomes and chronic pain. In particular, the injuries with loss of bone, ligament, and/or tendon tissue in which the full recovery of the wound area is not obtained are the worst anatomical/pathological conditions to heal. In this study, three different biological materials were used as regenerative approaches to rebuild the medial malleolus fracture of the ankle in which loss of bone, ligament, and tendon tissue occur. In particular, the morselized human bone tissue was combined with the human dermis decellularized, both augmented with homologous platelet-rich plasma. The magnetic resonance imaging study with contrast at the follow-up showed a signal compatible with vascularization of the tissue without sign of degeneration. Our new regenerative approach in which different biological materials were combined together showed a good choice of treatment for the reconstruction of not repairable outcome of a fracture.

Epidural analgesia is considered a gold standard in obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia. However, in situation when it is contraindicated, unwanted by the patient or simply unavailable, remifentanil can be an excellent alternative. The goal of our study is to analyse the side effects of intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV PCA) with remifentanil compared with epidural analgesia during delivery.

Low back pain (LBP) is yet the persistent public health challenges around the globe. It substantially affects quality of life and poses disability, particularly to the global working population. The profound losses in productivity and compensation premiums due to the condition have also been a challenge to contemporary occupational health. As such, it no doubt demands informed management and due response. The objective of this research was therefore to investigate the prevalence and work-related factors associated with low back pain among nurses in public hospitals in western Ethiopia.
