Session Details >Attendees will learn about the delivery of self-management through online healthcare provider visits and workshops. Physiotherapy, psychology, and overall self-management techniques will be discussed by the presenters. Presenters will discuss challenges and changes needed to convert in-person to online services and will also discuss changes they have had to make in the programming with the added complications of COVID-19 on patients’ health.
Dr. Coakley will be talking about the development and dissemination of the Virtual Comfort Ability Program (V-CAP). The Comfort Ability Program (CAP) is an internationally disseminated, brief CBT-based workshop for adolescents with chronic pain and their parents. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, CAP underwent an accelerated virtual modification following the knowledge-to-action translational science framework, resulting in a telehealth intervention that to date has been successfully adopted by 12 children's hospitals in the US, Canada, and Australia. This rapid modification has helped hundreds of families to obtain essential pain management skills training during the pandemic when access to care has been limited.
This presentation will showcase the work done on adapting and implementing Pain Education Empowerment Program (PEEP) into ePEEP. Lessons learned will be shared in this process, including identifying an appropriate e-platform to ensure accessibility, adapting materials and engagement to the e-environment. In addition, this meeting will discuss challenges faced as well as ways they were overcome. In conclusion, this presentation will discuss the acceptability of program participants.
