Search for Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Interim CEO Announcement
Jan 22, 2020
On behalf of the IASP Council, I am pleased to announce a number of important steps in IASP’s search for a new CEO following the departure of Matthew D’Uva. First, I am delighted that Colleen Delaney Eubanks has been appointed as Interim CEO through the appointment of a permanent CEO later in 2020. Colleen has been serving as IASP’s Chief Operating Officer since April 2018 and is a valuable and key member of the IASP Secretariat Staff. Colleen is a nonprofit and association management professional with over 25 years of executive and senior leadership experience in charitable, membership and trade organizations. She has been a Certified Association Executive since 2000.
During her time at IASP, Colleen has worked very closely with Matthew to implement a number of strategies including a new staffing model to better support IASP activities and decrease our reliance on outside consultants, an improved annual budgeting process and management support for key IASP programs including our patient engagement efforts. In addition to the internal staff team, Colleen has also worked closely with the Executive Committee, Council, SIGs and other Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces. During this transition, we are fortunate to have such a qualified professional to support us through this transition period ensuring a smooth transition stability of association.
Additionally, the IASP Leadership has assembled a Search Committee, chaired by Judith Turner, Immediate Past President, to lead the process to find a permanent CEO. The members of the Search Committee are:
- Judith Turner, Chair
- Lars Arendt-Nielsen (Denmark)
- Claudia Sommer (Germany)
- Allen Finley (Canada)
- Michael Nicholas (Australia)
- Mary Cardosa (Malaysia)
- Frank Keefe (USA)
- Srinivasa Raja (USA)
Finally, IASP has selected a search firm to assist us in the process, Sterling Martin and Associates (SMA). Sterling Martin has worked with leading healthcare and scientific organizations both in the United States and globally to manage executive searches. We expect to post the position announcement on the IASP website by 1 February 2020 along with details regarding next steps. Please visit the IASP website for more information soon. If you are interested in learning more about the position, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your continued support of IASP. I hope that you will join me in Amsterdam to thank Colleen and the staff for the work during this transition and to welcome our new CEO!
Best wishes for the New Year.
Lars Arendt-Nielsen, Dr. Med., PhD
