"Physicians' Education for Pain in NE Romania (PEPNER)"
This project addresses to family doctors, wishing to train them during 15 lectures regarding pain relief in cancer patients, which would require palliative care. Because in the Iasi county some of the GP's were trained in a previous project, this aquired experience will help us to train doctors from other counties as well. Through this training many oncological patients would benefit of palliative treatment because it's known that in Romania the need for palliative care is enormous, as noted by the GP's. Annually almost 150,000 are in need of palliative care in Romania, while the coverage with specialized services is only 4.2% for non-oncological and 6.7% for oncological patients.
Through this training of GP's will be able to give quality service according to standards, completing the package with well known actions, well described under the protocols drawn up by specialists in palliative care and approved by the National Association of Palliative Care.
