The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is seeking an engaged and passionate member to serve as the World Health Organization (WHO) Liaison. This prestigious role offers a unique opportunity to represent IASP in global efforts to prioritize pain management and advance pain relief initiatives within the WHO framework. 

Position Details: 

  • Term: Two years, with an option for renewal (maximum six years) 
  • Reports to: IASP Council 
  • Location: Flexible, with potential travel to World Health Assembly (WHA) meetings, regional WHO offices, and other relevant global health events 

The WHO Liaison will work closely with IASP leadership, staff, and regional liaisons to build and strengthen relationships with WHO departments, offices, and key stakeholders in public health. The liaison will be responsible for ensuring pain management is recognized as a global public health priority through strategic advocacy, collaboration, and representation at relevant events. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Advocate for pain management as a critical component of global health policy 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with WHO offices, regional offices, and public health stakeholders 
  • Organize and participate in side events, webinars, and meetings to advance pain-related initiatives when indicated by Council priorities 
  • Support IASP’s efforts to maintain its status as an NGO in official relationship with WHO 
  • Submit annual reports and develop strategies for enhancing IASP’s global engagement 

Who Should Apply? 

We are looking for an IASP member with at least 5 years of experience in pain advocacy, public health initiatives, or strategic partnership development. Candidates with prior experience working with WHO or other global health organizations are especially encouraged to apply.
