The purpose of this award is to recognize the contribution of a junior investigator whose scientific work has enhanced the science and practice of pain in older persons. The “SIG on Pain in Older Persons – Junior Investigator Award” provides the winner with a prize of $500 USD                                                        

CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD

  • The research must contribute to the science and/or practice of pain research in older persons.
  • The research findings are being disseminated via presentations and publications.
  • The research demonstrates high standards of scholarship in methods and dissemination.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The nominee is currently a PhD student or must have completed (defended) their dissertation within the past 7 years.
  • The nominee is a current member of the IASP Pain in Older Persons SIG

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Nomination should include a short letter of support from a PhD supervisor, post-doctoral supervisor, or position supervisor that addresses the significance of the research to advancing the science in the area of pain and aging and meritorious level of scholarship demonstrated by the applicant.
  • Include one manuscript representative of strong contribution to the literature.
  • Include a copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae.

NOTIFICATION

The award recipient will be notified in July 2025. The award will be presented at the 2026 IASP Congress Older Person’s SIG meeting at the World Congress on Pain (27–31 October 2026; Bangkok, Thailand).

The awardee is expected – if possible -to be present to receive the award at the SIG meeting.
