The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award for Pain in Older Persons is to recognize the contribution of a member who has conducted and promoted a program of research that has enhanced the science and practice of pain in older persons. The SIG on Pain in Older Persons – Distinguished Contribution Award provides the winner with a Prize of $500 USD.
Eligibility Requirements:
Nominees must have earned a doctorate and be nominated according to the established procedure. The nominee must be a current member of the IASP Pain in Older Persons SIG.
Nomination Evaluation Criteria:
- Program of research: quality and scope
- Overall impact of the research program on the field of pain in older persons
- Influence on research advancement and career development
Nomination Application Information:
- Curriculum vitae
- 100-word narrative summary statement about the applicant’s accomplishments and/or contributions
- A letter of support that details the nominee’s significant contributions
The IASP SIG on Pain in Older Persons Awards Committee reviews the nominations according to the criteria and makes recommendations to the Executive Committee for final approval. The award recipient will be notified in May 2026. The award will be presented at the 2026 IASP Congress Older Persons’ SIG meeting at the World Congress on Pain, 26–31 October 2026, Bangkok, Thailand.
The awardee is expected – if possible -to be present to receive the award at the SIG meeting.
