Postdoctoral Researcher in Sensory Neuroimmune Reactions

29 September 2022

PRF Jobs

50th Ann Fallback

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Neural Injury Group and the Neuromusculoskeletal Health and Science Laboratory at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. You will be responsible for carrying out research for a discrete area of a large project related to neuro-immune interactions in the context of neuropathic pain. The project involves co-culturing human induced pluripotent stem cell derived sensory neurons with immune cells to probe neuroimmune interactions. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, and provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group.

This is an ideal role for a postdoctoral researcher looking to learn new techniques at the cutting edge of sensory neuro-immune biology and to develop an independent project with opportunities for applications for further funding.

Your duties will include: establishing and maintaining human sensory neuron and immune cell co-cultures, developing new and adapting existing scientific techniques and experimental protocols, and testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data from a variety of sources.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (e.g. immunology, neuroscience etc.), together with relevant experience in cell culture techniques. They will also possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline, have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations and have excellent communication skills. Experience of relevant molecular and cellular biology laboratory techniques, independently managing a discrete area of a research project and actively collaborating in the development of research articles for publication is desirable.
