Editor’s note: Michael P. Jankowski, PhD, is the Theodore W. Striker, MD Endowed Chair in Anesthesia Research, and associate professor and director of Research in the Department of Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, US. His lab is interested in the mechanisms of sensory neuron sensitization with a particular emphasis on nociceptive processing. The two main focuses of his work are peripheral mechanisms of musculoskeletal pain and the sensitization of developing sensory neurons. In this podcast, Jankowski speaks with PRF freelancer Francie Moehring, PhD, to discuss his path to musculoskeletal pain research and particularly to ischemic muscle pain research, what he’s working on now, and what the future looks like in his area of investigation.
