The field of regional anesthesia has evolved tremendously in the last 15 years. New anesthesia protocols for ambulatory surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery have been developed as well. The focus of these techniques and protocols has centered on patient satisfaction and pain control while minimizing the use of opioids.
