IASP Releases a Global Year Video Series to Coincide with the 2023 Global Day Against Pain – #GlobalDayAgainstPain
17 October
Global Day Against Pain seeks to raise global awareness and recognize chronic pain as a disease, its treatment as a human right, and the universal need to help those suffering from pain find relief.
The first Global Day Against Pain was in 2004, when the World Health Organization and IASP officially joined the European Federation of IASP Chapters in publicly advocating against pain. The theme was “The Relief of Pain Should be a Human Right,” and the one-day program garnered media coverage worldwide. The success of this first Global Day Against Pain would lead IASP to declare the first Global Year campaign in 2005 with the Global Year Against Pain in Children. IASP has continued the Global Year campaign every year since, with 2023 being the Global Year for Integrative Pain Care.

To commemorate the 2023 Global Day Against Pain, IASP is releasing a new video series on integrative pain care coordinated by Heather Tick of the Center for Pain Relief at the University of Washington in Seattle. These videos explore the broader points of this cutting-edge topic before addressing the nuances of how a different perspective and approach to pain relief can benefit patients and research.
