The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is delighted to announce that Dr. Nguyen Nguyen is the 2026 recipient of the IASP Early Career Research Grant. Awardees must complete their projects within one year and submit progress reports to ensure continued support.
Dr. Nguyen is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program and a licensed psychologist. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University and leads research aimed at advancing health equity among racially and ethnically marginalized communities, particularly those living with chronic pain. His work explores how social, emotional and physical factors influence pain experiences and access to care, and he is investigating the emerging role of generative AI in shaping pain experiences and health behaviors. Dr. Nguyen also directs the Health, Empowerment, and Advocacy (HEAL) Lab, mentoring a collaborative community of students engaged in chronic pain and health psychology research.
IASP congratulates Dr. Nguyen Nguyen for their innovative contributions to pain research and their dedication to improving pain care for diverse communities. Through its grant programmes, IASP continues to support scholars and collaborations that advance knowledge, bridge disparities, and improve outcomes for people living with pain worldwide.
