Evaluation of ultrasound-guided transversalis fascia plane block for postoperative analgesia in cesarean section: A prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial.

Cesarean Delivery (CD) is a commonly performed obstetric procedure. Adding a regional anesthesia technique to multimodal analgesia in CD, may improve the quality of postoperative analgesia. In this study we evaluated the efficacy of Transversalis Fascia Plane Block (TFPB) for postoperative analgesia management in CD.

Current Opioid Prescribing Patterns after Microdirect Laryngoscopy.

The prevalence of opioid abuse has become epidemic in the United States. Microdirect laryngoscopy (MDL) is a common otolaryngological procedure, yet prescribing practices for opioids following this operation are not well characterized.

Subacute/chronic type A aortic dissection: a retrospective cohort study.

Our goal was to outline the clinical presentations, surgical treatment and outcomes of subacute/chronic type A aortic dissection (TAAD).

A novel, nonopiod-based treatment approach to men with urologic chronic pelvic pain syndrome using ultrasound-guided nerve hydrodissection and pelvic floor musculature trigger point injections.

Urological chronic pelvic pain syndrome (UCPPS) represents a group of pain symptoms relating to patients with pelvic pain for which treatment is largely unsatisfactory. The objective of this study is to analyze the effects of a novel treatment strategy in males suffering from UCPPS.

The Impact of Training on Percutaneous Glycerol Rhizotomy for Trigeminal Neuralgia: A Long-term, Retrospective Comparison of Staff Neurosurgeon and Trainee Complications and Efficacy.

/Objective: The role of trainee involvement in lesioning procedures for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) has not been investigated in the literature. The objective of this study was to compare the complications and efficacy of percutaneous glycerol rhizotomy (GR) as performed by staff neurosurgeons and trainees.

Exploring the Risk Factors for Depressive Symptoms Among Chinese Rural Older Adults.

The purpose of the current study was to examine risk factors for depressive symptoms among older adults in rural China. Data were derived from the National Health Services Survey in China. A total of 2,586 rural adults age ≥60 were included in the study. Sociodemographic factors, health risk factors, and behavioral factors were measured, along with self-rated depressive symptoms. Older age (>70 years), lower education level, and living without a partner were associated with depressive symptoms. After adjusting for socioeconomic status and social support, individuals who had at least one chronic disease, experienced pain, and were unable to take care of themselves or perform household chores were more likely to report depressive symptoms (all p < 0.001). Community health care and nursing services should focus on pain control, improvement of daily physical function, and social support for older adults in rural China. Effect of Fluconazole and Itraconazole on the Pharmacokinetics of Erdafitinib in Healthy Adults: A Randomized, Open-Label, Drug-Drug Interaction Study.

Erdafitinib, an oral selective pan-fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) kinase inhibitor, is primarily metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2C9 and 3A4. The aim of this phase 1 study was to assess the pharmacokinetics and safety of erdafitinib in healthy participants when coadministered with fluconazole (moderate CYP2C9 and CYP3A inhibitor), and itraconazole (a strong CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein inhibitor). The effect of CYP2C9 genotype variants (*1/*1, *1/*2, *1/*3) on the pharmacokinetics of erdafitinib was also investigated.

Propofol for treatment of acute migraine in the emergency department: a systematic review.

Propofol has not been extensively studied as an acute migraine therapy; however, based on the limited evidence from outpatient and inpatient settings, propofol has been proposed as an option for patients who present to the emergency department (ED). The purpose of this review is to evaluate the existing literature regarding the safety and efficacy of propofol for acute migraine treatment in the ED.

ACTH-Cell Pituitary Adenoma With Signet Ring Cells: A Rare Case Report and Review of The Literature.

Here, we present a case of pituitary adenoma producing adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in a 19-year-old woman. The patient was admitted to neurosurgery clinic because of a headache and decreased visual acuity. Transsphenoidal resection was performed. Microscopic examination of the tumor revealed signet-ring-like cell areas intermixed with conventional pituitary adenoma cells. Both populations of tumor cells showed immunoreactivity for chromogranin, synaptophysin, and ACTH. To date, there have been 3 reports of pituitary adenoma with signet-ring-like changes. To our knowledge, this is the first case of ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma with signet-ring-like cell changes. The clinical reflection of signet cells in pituitary adenoma is unclear. Accumulation of the similar cases and investigation of molecular background of them may lighten the importance of this morphologic variance.

Postoperative analgesic effect of intrathecal dexmedetomidine on bupivacaine subarachnoid block for open reduction and internal fixation of femoral fractures.

One of the drawbacks of subarachnoid block is the short duration of analgesia particularly when adjuvants are not added to local anesthetics agent used. However, dexmedetomidine an αadrenergic agent has been found to possess analgesic effect.
