The Post-Concussion Symptom Scale: Normative Data for Adolescent Student-Athletes Stratified by Gender and Preexisting Conditions.

The Post-Concussion Symptom Scale (PCSS) is a self-report questionnaire measuring symptoms that commonly occur after a concussion; however, these symptoms are nonspecific and can be related to co-occurring orthopaedic injuries (eg, cervical strain) or patient characteristics and preexisting conditions, even in the absence of a recent injury. As such, clinicians may have difficulty determining whether symptom elevations are attributable to a recent concussion as opposed to a confounding injury or a preexisting condition, which may be especially difficult when preinjury baseline symptom data are unavailable.

[Visual acupotomy intervention mitigates pain reaction by improving intervertebral disc degeneration and inhibiting apoptosis of nucleus pulposus cells in rabbits with cervical spondylosis].

To investigate the effect of visual acupotomy intervention on intervertebral disc degeneration, nucleus pulposus cell apoptosis and expression of apoptosis related proteins in rabbits with cervical spondylosis (CS), so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of CS.

The Effect of BMI on Paddle Lead Spinal Cord Stimulator Safety Implantation for Chronic Pain Management.

Spinal cord stimulators (SCS) represent an effective treatment for patients with chronic pain issues. This study examines extremely obese patients (BMI ≥ 40) as appropriate surgical candidates for paddle lead SCS trial via partial thoracic laminectomy and whether obesity impacts implantation safety.

The roles and mechanisms of circular RNAs related to mTOR in cancers.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are stable molecules with covalently closed structures that have an irreplaceable role in the occurrence, progression, and even treatment of plenty of cancers. Mammalian/mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a key regulator in cancers and plays several biological functions, such as proliferation, migration, invasion, autophagy, and apoptosis.

[Effects of early electroacupuncture on the expression of Iba-1 and TNF-α in Parkinson’s disease mice].

To observe the effect of early electroacupuncture(EA) intervention on ionized calcium binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba-1), tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in Parkinson's disease (PD) mice, so as to explore its neuroinflammation mechanism in treating PD.

Development and validation of the Chronic subdural HematOma Referral oUtcome prediction using Statistics (CHORUS) score: A retrospective study at a national tertiary centre.

Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a common neurosurgical condition with an increasing rate of patient referrals. CSDH referral decision-making is a subjective clinical process, and our aim was to develop a simple scoring system capable of acting as a decision support tool aiding referral triage.

Raynaud’s phenomenon associated with calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonists case report.

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a potent vasodilator that regulates the cerebrovascular and peripheral circulation. A new class of migraine therapies decreases CGRP through various mechanisms. One unknown off-target effect is the impact decreasing CGRP will have on the peripheral circulation. The following cases report new onset Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) following the use of CGRP receptor antagonists (-gepants) for both the acute and preventive treatment of migraine. These cases describe the development of RP in two individuals after using each of the currently available gepant medications. To our knowledge these are the first cases reported of RP associated with the use of gepants. RP has previously been reported in association with monoclonal antibodies to the CGRP ligand and CGRP receptor indicated in the prevention of migraine.

Eugenia gracillima essential oil has pharmaceutical applications in pain and inflammation without toxic effects in mice.

Eugenia gracillima is widely used by the population in the manufacture of pulps and jellies, with popular reports of its use in the treatment of infections in the urinary system, respiratory and dermatological problems. A previous study reports that EO from E. gracillima leaves proved to be a promising antioxidant agent in combating the promastigote forms of protozoa. Despite this, this species has been little studied due to its pharmacological properties.
