In August 2024, Andrew Rice initiated a Presidential Task Force to update IASP’s guidance for the use of laboratory animals in pain research. This Task Force will be responsible for revising the IASP Zimmerman guideline from 1983 and potentially expanding the guidance to cover aspects such as internal and external validity, publication guidance, evidence appraisal, and reproducibility.
