Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

The SIG on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) aims to:

  • Provide a forum for members to engage in free and frank communication on the diagnosis and management of pain syndromes of the sympathetic nervous system.
  • Bring focus to new developments in the field in basic and clinical research.
  • Assimilate the views of the different medical disciplines and patient reports about pain and the sympathetic nervous system.

The IASP accepted criteria for CRPS follows:
Harden, R. N., Bruehl, S., Perez, R. S., Birklein, F., Marinus, J., Maihofner, C., Lubenow, T., Buvanendran, A., Mackey, S., and Graciosa, J. (2010). "Validation of proposed diagnostic criteria (the “Budapest Criteria”) for complex regional pain syndrome." PAIN, 150(2), 268-274. These criteria are described in the IASP Classification of Chronic Pain.
