Thanks to Reviewers

On behalf of the Section Editors of PAIN, and as Editor-in-Chief of the journal, I wish to acknowledge and thank all of the reviewers who have given and continue to give of their time and expertise to review articles for the journal.

Reviewing is an invaluable task and one that greatly contributes to the maintenance of PAIN as the premier journal in the field.

We are grateful to all authors who choose PAIN to publish their basic and clinical research findings, without which the world of pain treatment and research would not be moving forward in the dynamic way that it does.

Thank you.

Francis J. Keefe, PhD
Editor-in-Chief, PAIN

PAIN Retains High Ranking Among Journals in Several Fields

PAIN ranked 6th the Anesthesiology category in 2019, and attained an Impact Factor of 5.483.

The Impact Factor measures, among other things, how often journal articles are cited during a specific period. PAIN received a total of 37,753 citations in 2019, more than any other journal in the Anesthesiology category.

PAIN also was highly ranked in other journal categories. In the field of clinical neurology, PAIN ranked in the top 15 percent of 204 journals, and in the neurosciences category, it finished in the top 18 percent of 271 journals.

Congratulations to Editor-in-Chief, Francis J. Keefe, as well as to PAIN’s Section Editors, Associate Editors, and the Editorial Office staff. And thanks to our authors and reviewers--and of course, to our readers. All have contributed to this outstanding achievement.

PAIN MetricsPAIN Offers Authors Metrics to Gauge Interest in Their Articles

PAIN is excited to announce the addition of individual article-level metrics to the PAIN website, giving authors new tools to help assess readers' interest in the content of their articles. Simply find an article on the site, and below the Article Tools box you will see "Article Level Metrics." By clicking the circular badge there, you will find such metrics as the number of mentions in social media (Tweets, Facebook posts, etc.), news stories, and more. We hope readers and authors enjoy this new feature, which provides a more immediate view of the impact of an article in the wider community.
