IASP, India Chapter Launch Country's First Pain Camp
Mar 8, 2017
The first sessions of the IASP-ISSP Multidisciplinary Evidence-Based Pain Management Program, a partnership between IASP and the Indian Society for the Study of Pain, took place this week at sites in Mumbai and Delhi. The program brought together experts from multiple specialties in a unique education and training experience for health-care professionals in India.
The program, which takes place over five months and includes online learning and two additional in-person sessions in May and July, included fundamentals of pain physiology and pathophysiology and practical concepts of the assessment, diagnosis, and interdisciplinary management of acute and chronic pain conditions. A generous grant from Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, supports the program.
At the first session of the IASP-MSSP Multidisciplinary Evidence-Based Pain Management Program, participants examined and diagnosed actual pain patients who had volunteered to take part in the program.
