"Improving knowledge providers and patients about neuropathic pain management in diabetes and HIV/AIDS."

Dr. Elizabeth Ogboli-NwasorSummary:

The project is a multi-disciplinary education project aimed at improving the knowledge and practice of neuropathic pain management among health care providers and their patients: diabetics and patients living with HIV/AIDS. It will involve the following:

  1. Public awareness health talks for diabetic patients and HIV patients in their respective clinics clients will involve weekly sessions and provision of patient information pamphlets on neuropathic pain.
  2. Lectures and practical demonstrations on weekly basis for nurses and student nurses and provision of lecture notes and handouts on neuropathic pain.
  3. Lectures and practical sessions on techniques of pain relief in neuropathic pain conditions on weekly basis for physicians.
  4. Lectures and hands-on practical sessions on techniques of pain relief in neuropathic pain conditions on weekly basis for pharmacists, psychologists and counsellors.
  5. Public Awareness Health talks for patients relations, family members, care givers and general public will involve weekly sessions and provision of patient information pamphlets on neuropathic pain.
  6. Radio and television talks, public enlightenment programs and newspaper publications on weekly basis and provision of patient information pamphlets on neuropathic pain.
