2020 Developing Countries Pain Education Grant
Improving Cancer Pain Management in Seven New Cancer Treatment Centers in Kenya
Cancer pain in Kenya is often poorly managed due, in part, to inadequate healthcare professional knowledge. The development of public cancer hospitals where care is provided by primary healthcare providers affords an opportunity to improve cancer pain management. This innovative program that is multidisciplinary and includes both a three-day didactic educational session followed by experiential learning in hospices or palliative care programs has the potential to significantly reduce pain and suffering in people with cancer in Kenya.
