Iran
The Iranian Pain Society produced and distributed this educational poster for the Global Year Against Musculoskeletal Pain to all the Iranian hospitals, medical institutions and medical schools in Iran.

Nigeria
The Society for the Study of Pain, Nigeria (IASP Chapter), launched a campaign to support the Global Year Against Musculoskeletal Pain in Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday, November 29, 2009. The program took place at the Auditorium of the National Hospital Abuja.

Asia, Australasia, and Oceania

India
On April 24, 2010, the Indian Society for the Study of Pain (ISSP, IASP chapter), together with the Department of Anesthesiology and Advanced Pain Management and the Scientific Association of Medical Officers, organized a symposium on Musculoskeletal Pain at Jagjivanram Hospital in Mumbai. Speakers included Past ISSP President Dr. R. P. Gehdoo and Western Railway Chief Medical Director Dr. Suhas Nandgave. View an invitation and the scientific program for the event.

Europe

Slovenia
From Monday, October 19, through Friday, October 23, 2009, Slovenia dedicatd a week to focus on campaigning for the Global Year Against Pain. The Slovenian Association for Pain Treatment (SZZB, IASP Chapter) organized a press conference about musculoskeletal pain. SZZB members discussed and introduced new aspects for treatment.

Spain
The Spanish Society of Pain (IASP Chapter) announced their celebration of World Day Against Pain on October 18, 2010. The event took place at The Hotel Palace, Madrid. They had presentations about the epidemiological profile and status of musculoskeletal pain in Spain. The Society presented awards for best research. This Day Against Pain had a special meaning to the Society, as they celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Spanish Pain Society as well. Click here to see a poster for the event.

Brazil
The Sociedade Brasileira de Estudo da Dor (SBED, IASP Chapter) created a poster in support of the Global Year Against Musculoskeletal Pain. Click here to view the poster.

Colombia
The Asociación Colombiana para el Estudio del Dolor (ACED, IASP Chapter) held a meeting about musculoskeletal pain on October 15, 2010. This was also the 20th anniversary celebration of the association. Speakers included Thomas Graven-Nielsen, Pedro Bejarano, Germán Ochoa, Monica Rincon, and Juan Pablo Forero Franco. Click here to view the agenda.

Cuba
The Cuban Association for the Study and Treatment of Pain (ACETD) sponsored a workshop on musculoskeletal pain on April 28-30, 2010. Seventy-four specialists, representing 16 specialties, were invited. The workshop, inspired by the IASP Global Year Against Pain theme, drew a panel of experts from several different medical disciplines to discuss how to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain.

Uruguay
The  Asociación Uruguaya de Acupuntura sent all its members this PowerPoint presentation about the Global Year of Musculoskeletal Pain. They state, "We are glad to participate in promoting the IASP’s objective."

United States and Canada

Canada/USA
From February 10-12, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, USA, the Canadian Institute for the Relief of Pain and Disability (CIRPD) and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine teamed up to present, "Musculoskeletal Disorders and Chronic Pain: Evidence-based approaches for clinical care, disability prevention and claims management."
