A brief description of your work and interests in the pain field:
Over the past 20+ years, I have been involved in a variety of regional, national and international leadership roles focused on quality improvement (QI), education and clinical practice in pain management. I have provided leadership to formulate interdisciplinary QI guidelines for acute and cancer pain and helped with the development and validation of the American and International Patient Outcome questionnaires. My interests include clinical practice in acute pain, quality and systems science, policy and pain education.

A brief statement of why you are interested in running for the position:
Inadequate pain management is a global health problem because of its widespread prevalence, negative impact on patient outcomes and economic burden. Quality pain management depends on a host of complex relationships and processes that can only be understood and improved with input of nurses on interprofessional teams. I believe my ongoing dedication and contributions to the field of pain management at the state, regional, national and international levels will help me serve in this IASP role to help overcome many of the barriers to pain management including inadequate professional, patient and family education and behaviors, and healthcare system impediments.
