Matthew R. D’Uva, FASAE, CAE
Chief Executive Officer, International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP)
Matthew R. D’Uva became the Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for the in July 2015. As the world’s leading professional organization devoted to pain research and care, IASP brings together scientists, clinicians, health-care providers and policymakers to stimulate and support the study of pain and translate that knowledge into improved pain relief worldwide. IASP has more then 6,000 members in 133 countries, 90 national chapters, and 20 Special Interest Groups.
Matthew has nearly 20 years of experience in association management including leadership positions with numerous professional associations. Most recently, Matthew spent nine years as President and CEO at the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals (SOCAP International), a professional society representing customer care professionals from leading Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to SOCAP, he spent seven years at the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
Matthew holds an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland and a B.A. degree in International Relations from Tufts University. He has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE). He served for three years as a member of the ASAE Board of Directors and ASAE Foundation Board of Directors.
A native of Waterbury, CT, Matthew and his wife, Amy Neugebauer, currently reside in Bethesda, Maryland with their two children.
