Professional Background

My long-term academic goals are to improve the clinical management of pain by advancing knowledge about mechanisms, treatments, and functional impact of painful conditions. Using a translational approach, these goals are being addressed by research programs focused on several areas, including (1) analgesic drug combinations in acute and chronic pain, (2) differential mechanisms and treatment responses of spontaneous versus stimulus-evoked pain, (3) Impact of pain conditions and pain treatment on function and quality of life, and (4) knowledge synthesis and knowledge translation in pain medicine.
