A brief description of your work and interests in the pain field:
I have been serving as a pain neuroscientist, anesthesiologist, and pain physician for over thirty years. I have rich and unique academic and professional experiences in neuroscience research, pain management, pain medicine education, and leadership roles in national and international academic and professional societies in fields of pain medicine. My research interests focus on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie neuropathic pain, cancer pain, opiate actions in cancer pain treatment, general anesthesia, and pain-related empathy.

A brief statement of why you are interested in running for the position:
With rich and unique academic and professional records in China and in the United States for over 30 years plus the experiences of serving on several IASP committees in recent years (see next), I look forward to having more opportunities to dedicating my passionate enthusiasm and my successful experiences to serve IASP. Meanwhile, as Chair of China-ASP (CASP) and Director of China Chapter of IASP, I deeply feel that CASP has its responsibility of serving IASP and developing closer relationships and collaborations with IASP and its more than one hundred members in the world.

I have been actively serving on the following IASP Committees: (1) Scientific Program Committee of 17th Word Congress of Pain (Boston 2018) (2016-2018); (2) Scientific Program Committee of 18th Word Congress of Pain (Amsterdam 2021) (2018-2021); (3) Pain Definition Task Force (2018-2020); and IASP Membership Committee (since 2016-).
