A brief description of your work and interests in the pain field:

I have been passionate about clinical practice and research in children’s pain since my training in the 1980s, and an active IASP member since 1989. As clinician and researcher, I’ve collaborated in both roles with other disciplines on five continents, and respect and value the work done by basic scientists, policy makers, clinical researchers, and all medical and allied health professions. My research has focused on different aspects of pain assessment, treatment, and service delivery, but most recently on pain as a global health issue and on research mobilization to support pain services in resource-limited settings. A brief statement of why you are interested in running for the position:

Service as IASP Treasurer has given me an in-depth and current understanding of our organization and the skills to lead us forward. Research and advocacy to improve pain care have driven my life’s work. IASP supports research and researchers, and trains young scientists and clinicians, but we must also be strong advocates for pain patients and treatment internationally. Our many members working to improve pain research and care in their own countries must be able to count on our support with a global pain strategy, supported by research evidence. We can have a strong voice on the world stage, and we should use it.
