IASP® Grants and Awards
IASP has an extensive grants and awards program to support
investigators working in basic or clinical research and to support
education in developing countries. Please see below for Congress-related grants

IASP Research Symposia: Grants of up to
US$40,000 support the costs of a symposium on a
specific pain-related topic that is of interest to both basic scientists
and clinical researchers. Application deadline is
now March 30, 2008.
IASP Collaborative Research Grants: These grants of up to
US$15,000 support collaborative research between two or more
research groups located in different countries. Application
deadline is April 30, 2008.
IASP
Research Grants funded by Scan Design by the Inger and Jens Bruun
Foundation: sponsor collaboration between investigators in
Scandinavia and the United States. Two grants of up to
US$25,000 are available, one for clinical and one for
basic research. Application deadline is April 30, 2008.
IASP Developing Countries Project: Initiative for Improving Pain
Education: Educational support grants for up to
US$10,000 are available to improve essential pain education for
clinicians in developing countries. Application deadline is June
1, 2008.

Fellowships: IASP provides fellowships to support training in
all aspects of pain research. Application deadlines are September 1,
2008.
IASP
Early Career Research Grants: 7 Grants of
US$20,000 each (including 2 funded by ScanDesign by
Jens and Inger Bruun Foundation). The IASP Early Career Research
Grants support researchers who are in the early career stage of
pain investigations. Application deadline is January 30, 2009.
IASP
Visiting Professor Grants: These grants are available to our
chapters. They cover the cost of airfare for a visiting professor
to travel to and from a chapter event. Application deadline is
at least six months prior to the chapter event.

Grants and Awards
IASP
Award for Excellence in Pain Research and Management: Two awards
will be granted for free registration and a travel grant for applicants
from low income countries (per the World Bank List) of up to
US$10,000 towards the cost of attending the next World
Congress on Pain.
Patrick
D. Wall Young Investigator Award for Basic Science: Selected
nominee will receive a plaque to be presented at the Congress, discount
airfare for travel to the Congress and accommodation expenses, free
Congress registration, and a cash award of
US$1,000.

Lindblom Young Investigator Award for Clinical
Science: Selected nominee will receive a plaque to be presented
at the Congress, discount airfare for travel to the Congress and
accommodation expenses, free Congress registration, and a cash award of
US$1,000.
Ronald
Dubner Research Prize: Selected nominee will receive a plaque
to be presented at the Congress, discount airfare for travel to the
Congress and accommodation expenses, free Congress registration, and a
cash award of US$2,500.

D. Loeser Distinguished Lecture Award: Chosen recipient will
receive a plaque to be presented at the Congress, IASP
membership, discount airfare for travel to the Congress and
accommodation expenses, free Congress registration, and a cash award of
US$2,000.
John
J. Bonica Distinguished Lecture Award: Chosen recipient will
receive a plaque to be presented at the Congress, IASP membership
discount airfare for travel to the Congress and accommodation expenses,
free Congress registration, and a cash award of
US$3,000.
