Vision Statement: Working together for pain
relief throughout the world
Mission: IASP brings together scientists,
clinicians, health care providers, and policy makers to stimulate and
support the study of pain and to translate that knowledge into improved
pain relief worldwide.
Founded in 1973, IASP is the world's largest multidisciplinary
organization focused specifically on pain research and treatment.
IASP currently has more than 6,500 members from 114 countries and
in 74 chapters.

Initiatives to Promote Awareness: |
IASP has joined with other advocacy organizations on worldwide efforts
to improving access to pain treatment. Human Rights Watch and the International Association of Hospice and Palliative
Care are spearheading two separate initiatives to promote
awareness of the need for pain treatment. IASP is proud to be a
supporter of these efforts. |
Announcing: |
October 20, 2008, marks the launch of the
Global Year Against Cancer Pain. Built around the theme
of “Raising Awareness ▪ Improving Treatment ▪ Growing
Support,” this 2008-2009 campaign aims to provide a voice to
millions of patients around the world who experience cancer-related pain
