The Faculty and Scientific
Program Committee for the 14th World Congress on Pain are planning a
full scientific program consisting of a variety of sessions designed to
benefit those just entering the field of pain research and treatment and
those interested in updating their skills and knowledge of promising
research and treatment possibilities.

Refresher Courses
IASP is sponsoring a series of half-day Refresher Courses on Monday,
August 27, 2012. The registration fee includes the course, syllabus, and
a coffee break. Refresher Course attendees must register for the
Congress (either one-day or full registration) and pay a separate
registration fee for each Refresher Course attended.

Plenary Sessions
IASP has invited several internationally known speakers to present
timely topics in the field of pain during each morning and afternoon's
Plenary Sessions. This program will present a wide array of issues and
research that is relevant to both basic scientists and clinicians.

Special Lectures
At the Congress, IASP bestows two of its highest honors by awarding
two long-time Association members the opportunity to give a
distinguished lecture. The 2012 John J. Bonica and John D. Loeser
Distinguished Lectures will be presented by Troels S. Jensen and Frank
Keefe, respectively.

Topical Workshops
The 13th World Congress on Pain will feature a series of simultaneous
90-minute Topical Workshops, providing delegates with great
opportunities for floor discussion and learning from leaders in the pain
study field. Most sessions will include viewpoints from at least three
speakers.

Poster Sessions
The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) invites
members and others to submit poster abstracts to be considered for
presentation at the 14th World Congress on Pain.

Satellite Symposia
IASP endorses two types of satellite symposia offered in conjunction
with the Congress: member-sponsored and SIG-sponsored. IASP does not
oversee the content of these sessions, and therefore does not offer
continuing education credit for them. Contact the symposium organizer to
determine the availability of continuing education credits.

Congress Faculty
Hundreds of people come together to make each Congress possible. The
Congress faculty includes speakers and organizers of the Plenary
Sessions, Topical Workshops, and Refresher Courses.
