IASP® Developed-Developing Countries Collaborative Research Grants

Grant: Up to US$15,000

Application Deadline: March 15

Purpose:

The IASP Developed-Developing Countries Collaborative Research Grants support international, interdisciplinary collaborations in pain research, specifically between laboratories in a developing country (see list of eligible countries) and in a developed country.

Eligibility Requirements:

The principal investigators in charge of the overall projects in both countries must be members of IASP of at least one year’s standing. The person submitting the application will be deemed the principal investigator for the research and administration of the funds. Funds will not be in the form of a personal check, but will be administered for the project by the institution of the principal investigator.

Guidelines:

  • Two grants are available per year.
  • The grants cover travel and accommodation costs to support collaborative research by two or more research groups located in different countries, one of which must be a developed country and one of which must be a developing country.
  • The IASP Committee on Research will evaluate all proposals according to:
      a) scientific merit;
      b) the qualifications of the investigators;
      c) evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborations between basic science and clinical research groups will receive priority.
  • IASP sponsorship will be in the form of a grant to the institutional account for the principal investigator of the project. The principal investigator will be responsible for overall administration of the grant, including managing funds and reporting requirements, which must be completed within two years of the award. No administrative fees or overhead costs shall come out of the grant funds.
  • Publications arising from work supported by these grants must acknowledge IASP as the source of funding.
