11th World Congress on Pain®
August 21-26, 2005
Sydney, Australia
The 11th World Congress on Pain, held August 21-26, 2005 in Sydney,
Australia, was an unqualified success. Over 4,500 scientific delegates
registered; when exhibitors, guests, and staff are counted, over 5,100
registrants from more than 90 countries enjoyed the formal
presentations, the informal discussions, and the fun which are found in
abundance at IASP Congresses. The scientific program comprised 16
refresher courses, 20 plenary lectures, 84 workshops and over 1700
poster presentations.
The content of these scientific sessions was universally praised:
IASP thanked the Scientific Program Committee chair, Herta Flor, and all
who served with her for their highly successful efforts. The social
aspects and the audio-visual components under the supervision of Geoff
Gourlay and his Local Action Committee were equally and deservedly
lauded.
