2012 IASP Call for Volunteers
IASP needs you! Here's your chance to become more active and support
IASP by joining one of our committees, task forces, or working groups.
If you are willing to volunteer your expertise, time, and energy, please
review the descriptions below and volunteer for the committee or
committees of your choice. These are small, active groups, so it's
critical that you have available time. Most of the work will be done via
email and conference calls. English is the official language for all
committee, working group, and task force activities.
IASP will accept applications through June 18,
2012. The Committee on Committees will review all applications
in July.
Developing Countries Working Group
(5 openings)
Purpose: Develop the IASP strategy for advancing
pain education in developing countries; develop guidelines, review
applications and determine awardees for Developing Countries Education
Grant; develop outcome measures for grant program and strategies.
Expertise Needed: Knowledge of developing countries'
health policies and clinical practices; Familiarity with pain education
curricula and educational methods

Education Initiatives Working Group
(5 openings)
Purpose: Develop IASP's pain education strategies
and initiatives.
Expertise Needed: Interest and experience in pain
education; Multidisciplinary; Geographic representation; Familiar with
online educational processes

Fellowships, Grants, and Awards Working Group
(6 openings)
Purpose: Develops the application process and
selects the winners of the following IASP fellowships and grants:
- IASP Research Symposium
- Collaborative Research Grants
- Early Career Grants
- All Fellowships
Expertise Needed: Research methodology; Scientific
knowledge; Translational issues; Objectivity

Membership and Chapters Committee
(3 openings)
Purpose: Develop membership recruitment and
retention strategies, policies and procedures regarding the membership
application process, Affiliate member (corporate) policies, and
strategies to improve collaboration with IASP chapters and
federations.
Expertise Needed: Strategic thinking; Knowledge of
legal issues of working with industry
