European Federation of IASP Chapters

The European Federation of IASP chapters (EFIC) is a
multidisciplinary professional organization in the field of pain science
and medicine, made up of the 30 European Chapters of IASP (International
Association for the Study of Pain). Established in 1993, by Prof. Ulf
Lindblom, EFIC's 30 constituent chapters represent 33 countries and
close to 18.000 scientists, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists,
psychologists and other healthcare professionals across Europe, who
study pain and treat patients in pain.
The Societal Impact of Pain – A Road Map for
Action
The European Federation of IASP Chapters (EFIC) recently issued a call
to European governments and EU institutions to address the issues
associated with untreated and undertreated pain. 58 organizations have

September 21-24, 2011, Hamburg, Germany. Pain in
Europe VII. Societal impact on pain: 7th Congress of the European
Federation of IASP® Chapters (EFIC). EFIC Hamburg 2011 will unite
over 3,000 clinicians, researchers and health care providers
specializing in the study and treatment of chronic and recurrent pain
disease. This landmark pain congress offers an advanced scientific
program presented by a leading international faculty. A major topic is
the importance of increasing public awareness and the need for advanced
