Philip A. Spiegel IASP Congress Trainee Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2011 by IASP and friends and
family of Philip A. Spiegel, a young medical researcher and IASP member
who died December 22, 2010, in San Mateo, California, USA. He suffered
from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and was planning to enter medical
school to study pain management.
Award:
- Complimentary Congress registration
- Airfare (economy class) to the Congress and accommodation
expenses
- Plaque to be presented at the World Congress on Pain
Eligibility and Selection:
This award is for trainees only. To be considered,
trainees must apply for Congress financial aid. The award will be
presented to the trainee who receives the highest score on his or her
financial aid application.
The following activities will be used in judging applications for
financial aid:
- Enrollment in a full-time degree program or in full-time study in
the area of pain and/or employment status and location
- Presentation at a national or international scientific meeting
- Applicant's self-selected "best" publication
- Involvement in research, lab experience, or hospital or university
teaching
