Provisional Fellow Pain Medicine

The Pain Management & Research Centre, Royal North Shore Hospital NSW Sydney Australia is seeking suitable applicants for two (2) funded Faculty of Pain Medicine accredited training positions commencing February 3, 2014 (one year fixed term). The Pain Management & Research Centre is an internationally recognised focus of clinical, education and research on pain (http://sydney.edu.au/medicine/pmri/). The clinical group includes a range of medical specialists, clinical psychologists, nurses and physiotherapists with specific expertise in pain management. Over 33,000 episodes of acute, persistent non-cancer and cancer pain service are provided each year. Under the auspices of the University of Sydney, a postgraduate International Pain Education Program in pain management has been established. A large research group of basic, applied and clinical researchers are housed in the Institutes facilities.

The Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists is the body responsible for training of Pain Medicine Specialist Physicians in Australia. To access details on the training program please see:  http://www.fpm.anzca.edu.au/training.

TMD/Orofacial Pain Faculty Position

School of Dentistry
University of Minnesota

The Department of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences in the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota seeks applications for a full time, 12 month/per year, tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor in the Division of TMD and Orofacial Pain.

Candidates are expected to have a D.D.S., D.M.D, M.D., Ph.D. and/or equivalent degree, with at least 2 years of postdoctoral training and experience with clinically-based pain management. Candidates with established extramurally funded research programs are preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to have established (tenured) or to develop (tenure-track) strong extramurally funded pain-related clinical research. Salary and start-up funds will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Intra-mural clinical practice is available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States by the start date.

The School of Dentistry is part of a seven-school Academic Heath Center system at the University of Minnesota, one of the most comprehensive academic health centers in the United States. It offers state-of-the art core facilities, with access to the Supercomputing Institute, the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research, and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, as well as leading basic science and clinical research programs. The campus is located in the Twin Cities, which is a large metropolitan area consistently recognized for its overall quality of life.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of post-doc pharmaceutical industry experience in the paid field
  • A strong track record of achievement and experience of leading discovery programs aimed at identifying novel treatments for chronic pain
  • Develop practical research strategies and translate strategy into experiments
